PHILOSOPHY:


Bapusaheb Thite College of Nursing is dedicated to nurturing compassionate, skilled, and future-ready nursing professionals. The institution emphasizes bridging theoretical knowledge with practical skills, providing students with a holistic understanding of patient care and modern healthcare challenges. AIMS:

The Aims of the GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) Programme at Bapusaheb Thite College of Nursing likely include:

1. Providing Quality Nursing Education – To equip students with comprehensive knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for professional nursing practice.
2. Developing Competent Nurses – To train nurses capable of delivering safe, effective, and holistic patient care in hospitals, communities, and healthcare settings.
3. Promoting Ethical and Compassionate Care – To instill values of empathy, compassion, and ethical responsibility in patient care.
4. Enhancing Critical Thinking and Decision-Making – To enable nurses to assess patient conditions effectively and make informed clinical decisions.
5. Encouraging Community Health Participation – To prepare students to work in both rural and urban healthcare settings, promoting health awareness and preventive care.
6. Fostering Leadership and Professional Growth – To develop leadership qualities in nurses for career advancement and contribution to the nursing profession.

Objectives:


The Objectives of the GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) Programme as per the Indian Nursing Council (INC) are:
• Provide holistic nursing care using the nursing process in hospitals and community settings.
• Demonstrate competency in nursing skills based on scientific principles and evidence-based practice.
• Promote health and prevent illness through health education and community health initiatives.
• Deliver effective midwifery services and maternal care, including safe childbirth and newborn care.
• Apply problem-solving and critical thinking in clinical decision-making.
• Maintain professional and ethical standards in nursing practice.
• Develop communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Utilize community resources for health promotion and rehabilitation.
• Demonstrate leadership and management skills in clinical and community settings.
• Pursue lifelong learning and professional growth to stay updated with advancements in nursing and healthcare.

Eligibility criteria for B.Sc. Nursing:

• H.S.C. (10+2 passed) from Maharashtra State with Marathi as one of the subjects. Preference will be given to Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) subjects with an aggregate of 45% marks
• Age between 17 years completed to 25 years at the time of admission
• Admission is done purely on merit: 50% of H.S.C. marks, number of attempts plus performance in personal interview and written test

• Medical Fitness:
o Candidates must be mentally and physically fit
o Students have to undergo a medical examination at the KEM Hospital at their own cost
o They will be considered for selection only after obtaining a Medical Fitness Certificate

Program structure:

The GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) Programme Structure as per the Indian Nursing Council (INC) consists of three years of education, including theory, practical training, and an internship. Below is the general structure:

Total Duration: 3 years (including internship)

FIRST YEAR

• Subjects:
o Biological Sciences (Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology)
o Behavioural Sciences (Psychology, Sociology)
o Nursing Foundations (Fundamentals of Nursing, First Aid)
o Community Health Nursing – I
o Nutrition
o English
o Computer Education

• Practical Training:
o Nursing Foundations (Basic Nursing Skills, Bedside Nursing, First Aid)
o Community Health Nursing I

SECOND YEAR

• Subjects:
o Medical-Surgical Nursing – I & II
o Mental Health & Psychiatric Nursing
o Child Health Nursing (Paediatrics)
o Communication & Educational Technology
• Practical Training:
o Medical-Surgical Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing

THIRD YEAR (MIDWIFERY AND INTERNSHIP)

o Midwifery & Gynecological Nursing
o Community Health Nursing – II
o Introduction to Research & Statistics
o Professional Trends & Adjustment
o Administration & Ward Management
• Internship (6 months):
o Midwifery (Delivery care, Antenatal & Postnatal care)
o Community Health Nursing (Public Health, Family Welfare)
o Nursing Administration & Management
